| Mike Huckabee, former governor of Arkansas, was on NPR a few days ago. He's running for president in the 2008 election (or, wants to...is thinking about it? I'm not sure how these things work.)
It was the first I'd ever heard of him, but I think I like him a lot. This is what I heard. He talked a little about being pro-life in regards to more than just abortion—remembering that human life extends beyond gestation. He stressed the importance of protecting life at all stages: kids' education, seniors' health care, etc. He seems to have higher level of compassion than a lot of other Republicans. |

| I thought I'd offer these photos as an explanation of Mel's post. This was a gift from my boss for graduation and Christmas. I'm not entirely sure what to do with it. It's holding about a dollar of change right now, but I can't promise that it won't end up as a white elephant gift at some point. Mel, I can't remember if the box featured technicolor hearts, but as you can see, this is a vibrant cowie. Full of life. But, no eyes.

| "But I might need hymns. I might need liturgy and the Nicene
creed. I might need to kneel for prayer and have a priest wearing a
robe to remind me of the Levites who approached God with the
preparation and alertness of a Hazmat team. Because holiness is a
hazardous material. "
this made me laugh.
